Description:
A semi-upright form with dark green needles and red berries, which are poisonous to dogs and children, but good for the birds. This variety grows faster than the regular Dense Yew and is a multipurpose shrub for hedging, screening, or even topiary. If left unpruned, it creates a beautiful vase-shaped hedge or accent shrub. Every landscape looks more attractive with some evergreens, and yews are one of the best, providing lush, dark green growth all season long. Their dark green foliage is a great contrast for flowering shrubs.
Pruning in late spring or summer is best. Yews are drought-tolerant once established, but will not do well in wet areas. Water freely in the fall before the ground freezes. All yews are shade tolerant.
