This maple has impressive burgundy red emerging new leaves that mature to dark purplish green. Autumn brings yellow to the older leaves while younger leaves become orange or purple for a striking fall colour. This maple forms a dense, broad head providing summer shade in your landscape. Its furrowed silver bark and red branches add to the beauty of this stunning tree Once established this is a fast growing tree. These maples prefer a slightly acidic, moist soil.
Pruning maple trees at the end of summer is an ideal time to do so. All maples except Silver are Black Walnut tolerant.
