Proven Winners brand has come up with an even more fabulous variety of ‘Quick Fire’ by adding big, full, showy mophead blooms to the mix. Fabulous full flowers instead of lace-cap like ‘Quickfire’ adorn this shrub. They quickly turn and mature to a very deep pink. The flowers are excellent for cutting and drying. Give the shrub some room to create a majestic display in the landscape. Prune branches back by half to two thirds in early Spring before leaves open.  The most important rule of all hydrangeas is water, hence the name “hydra” meaning water; hydrangeas are very thirsty. They love the sun, but in a hot spot, adequate water is needed, or the blooms will brown up fast. Adequate water will keep your blooms beautiful right up to the lst hard frost. You may choose to leave the blooms on for beautiful winter interest in the garden. PeeGee Hydrangeas do best in slightly acidic soil, but it is not necessary to amend your soil. Leaves turn yellow adding to the Fall colour in the landscape along with the pinkish blooms.
