Limelight Hydrangea has absolutely enormous, rounded conical lime green flowers that turn white and then finish in deep pink tones from mid Summer to late Fall. The flowers are excellent for fresh bouquets The dried blooms can be used for wreaths as well as arrangements. Give this shrub some room to create a majestic display in the landscape. Prune branches back by half to two thirds on both the tree form and shrub in early Spring before leaves open. The most important rule of all hydrangeas is water, hence the name “hydra” meaning water; hydrangeas are very thirsty. They love the sun, but in a hot spot, adequate water is needed, or the blooms will brown up fast. Adequate water will keep your blooms beautiful right up to the lst hard frost. The dried blooms on the tree or shrub create beautiful winter interest in the garden. PeeGee Hydrangeas do best in slightly acidic soil, but it is not necessary to amend your soil. Leaves turn yellow adding to the Fall colour in the landscape along with the pinkish blooms.
