One of the most popular of all tall Japanese maple trees for the home landscape. Amazing rich burgundy-purple palm-shaped foliage all season and turns an outstanding scarlet for beautiful Fall colour. The interesting red-black branches provide striking interest in winter. All Japanese Maples do best in morning sun, or dappled afternoon sun, although Bloodgood is more sun tolerant than others. A hot, and/or dry location may result in dry crispy leaves. It prefers to grow in moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It should only be pruned in summer after the leaves have fully developed. Plant in an area protected from strong winter winds. Burlap wrap is recommended for Winter protection for the first year or two until the tree establishes a good root system. Warrantied until October lst.
