Description:
This beech is a pyramidal form with upright branches and elliptical leaves. The crinkled, wavy leaves emerge red retaining a purple colour all season. It develops a low canopy with a typical clearance of 1 foot from the ground. Foliage becomes coppery-bronze in the Fall and the leaves will stay on the tree long into the winter. A fabulous vertical accent for smaller landscape gardens. Excellent as an individual specimen, in a small grouping in the landscape, or planted in rows for screening or privacy.
European beech thrives in rich, moist, well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade, but does not tolerate hot, dry sites. Very little pruning is necessary to maintain its shape.
