Black Cedar is upright, conical to pyramidal shape depending on how it’s pruned. Vigorous growth creating thick, full, tall hedges, and windbreaks. This variety is a denser, darker cultivar than white cedar. Great for screening as a single specimen. Tolerates a wide range of soils, however, it does best in moist conditions. Benefits from watering well in the Fall. Cedars cannot tolerate dry soils. Deer find the soft evergreen foliage very attractive for winter food and will rapidly strip a plant.
